Hello Jean,

I'd say that you aren't stupid at all, and neither are most of the people who have been taken in by letters like these!

These letters can be made to seem so real, and they do catch a lot of people off guard.

The aim of the article isn't to make people feel as though they are stupid, but rather is meant to act as a 'billboard' on the cyber highway to help others avoid getting sucked in by scams like this!

Please accept my apologies if the article made you feel silly, as that was not my intention!

Have a great day!

Well I was taken in by the letter, took me ages to send it on, makes me so mad that this could happen.
And I am elderly so not that stupid, however it seems from what others have posted.. that I am.

G'day Timbo,

I don't know if they're stupid, don't think, or just don't read stuff that is sent to them!

Anyone can see that facebook is there to grow and make money, not hunt people away.

I've never sent stuff by pressing the 'fast' link - although I have noticed that when I want to send stuff to just one or two people, that it is a pain to pick through and find them, and that if you aren't careful, a lot of boxes remain ticked...

Cheers, and thanks for the comment!

Well it seems like this one just got dug out of the closet again, (just recived it today) although it is only 3 months or so from the last post. What gives me the poops is that Facebook encourages this behaviour by having the Foward (Fast) link at the bottom of each post. But...I guess if Facebook was ever sold, this method of getting spam/advertising to go viral would certainly make it a worthwhile proposition.

On the human front, it is unfortunate that even some of my friends are among those stoopid enough not to be able to tell the difference between a real post and spam, but a real post on facebook...give me a break.
