Halloween arrives on October 31st. It’s a night of fun and mayhem on the streets, and time for letting your hair down at rollicking Halloween costume parties. Now is the time to come up with some fun Halloween ideas.
TheOrigin of Halloween:
Halloween began as an ancient Celtic festival in Great Britain and Ireland. It survived most strongly among Irish, Scottish and Welsh communities, and was carried to North America by immigrants, where it has gained in popularity.
As part of American pop culture, Halloween has spread in popularity to many corners of the English speaking western world, and in recent times has also spread into Western Europe.
The night of October 31st is the traditional time for celebration of Halloween.
These days, it’s a fun time for theme costume parties, horror film shows, haunted house decorations and other activities around the popular themes of ghosts, witches, vampires, werewolves and anything supernatural.
Although Halloween originally began as a pagan festival, it was absorbed into the calendar of the growing Christian church long ago and was added to All Hallows or All Saints Day, which falls on November 1.
A vigil for All Hallows Day was held on the evening of October 31. In the speech of the times, All Hallows Evening became Hallowe’en, and then later the Halloween we know today!
