G'day Durano,

Yes, I can definitely see what you are saying!

I guess to that Advance Australia Fair, written from a 19th century British Empire perspective may have a lot to do with the way it comes across as well.

The song has changed a lot, and I have posted the original lyrics in an edit! You can let me know what you think later...

I enjoy both for different reasons. Another that has been suggested as a National song is <a href="http://allancockerill.com/classics/i-still-call-australia-home" rel="nofollow">"I Still Call Australia Home"</a>, but it'd a bit glitsy, tacky and commercialised for my liking.

Cheers

Allan, I am certainly not Australian but looking at the lyrics of Advance Australia Fair and then comparing it with the "I am Australian" by the Seekers, I believe the latter song would make a better anthem.

Surely, Advance Australia Fair sounds like an anthem in terms of format and message that speaks of beauty, richness and nobility; however, the Seekers song talks of diversity and has translated the expressed beauty, richness, and nobility of the country in practical and life experienced messages, that acknowledges many cultures but unifies all as one. Its call "I am Australian" is full of pride without a boast. Its beautiful and touching.

Of course, this is not up to you nor I so that's my two cents worth. --Durano, done!
