The Blog Friends Blog!

by Allan Cockerill on November 26, 2007

The Blog Friends Blog is a great place to keep up with what is going on with Blog friends, an application that I consider to be one of the best on Facebook!

While sites such as Myspace allow you to have a blog on your site, Blog Friends takes your own blog feed, and displays it on your Facebook profile, and on those of your friends, and if you choose, their friends!

This feature makes networking much easier, and increases your visibility on Facebook in a very simple, and legitimate way!

I have had people who I would otherwise not have met add me as a Facebook friend because of this application!

Facebook applications such as ‘Introduceme’, ‘Intros’, ‘Friend Expander’ and others are great for finding your friends, but the advantage of Blog Friends is that it is more of a ‘viral’ tool!

Using any blogging tool is useless though if you don’t have good content!

Blog friends users are able to pick and choose which bloggers they wish to display in their ‘river’!

This is voting for, or against different bloggers and is a form of quality control.

For instance, a couple have turned up lately with four letter words in their title, or in the body of the blog. They lost my vote!

I have no problem with people expressing themselves this way if they choose to, but, not on my profile.

As bloggers who are putting information out for others to read, it’s imperative that we avoid causing offence where possible.

While I respect freedom of speech, it’s no use producing content that alienates possible subscribers!

I discussed this with a friend on Skype today! In a sense, it doesn’t matter what we like, but rather, what our audience wants!

Years ago Coca Cola changed their formula, thus changing the taste of Coke. The public hated it, so they changed back to the old formula very quickly!

Giving the customer what they want, or keeping the customer satisfied is an adage that bloggers need to remember.

Doing so doesn’t require blandness, though it may require a crash course to learn a new vocabulary!

Have a great week!
