Web2.0 Relationship Marketing - Is It Really New?

I find it really interesting that over the past few years, people have been falling over themselves to embrace relationship marketing as if it was a brand new sensation.
The fact is that the concept has been around since mankind has been doing business. People have preferred to do business with those that they know that they can trust for centuries!
What is new is the fact that the concept has been moved over to the Internet environment, with the move being swept along with the help of sites such as Linkedin, Myspace and Facebook.
It’s a fact that people will always buy off someone that they trust, and this is a great advantage online. If you can present the same professional image of yourself online as you do offline, then you’re well on the way.
I like to think that the image you see here is what you would see if you were to meet me in a business or personal setting offline somewhere!
As a professional writer and marketer, I always strive to be as open as possible, and let others get to know me.
I know that I’ve touched on this before, but it does bear repeating because of its importance.
Simply shaking hands with someone in a real or virtual sense, and handing out business cards, is not networking, it’s advertising, and that is a big difference.

I write about a number of topics on my blog, and use it as an opportunity for people to see just what I am like.
Of course, regular visitors to my blog will be aware of the fact that I almost always include my Facebook Profile badge, and that I always invite people to click it, and to visit me on Facebook.
Telling people that signing up at Facebook is easy, and inviting them to be my friend there is also a very simple networking idea.
If you’re a member and wondering how to set up a badge like the one above, simply go to the very bottom of your profile page. Click the link to create your badge, and you’re set!
