Just How Do You Spell Silhouette?
Have you ever had one of THOSE days where nothing seems to go right? Interruptions, hard to focus, bad coffee? I hate bad coffee, and even felt like firing the barista this morning the coffee tasted so bad.
Then I realized that I’d made the coffee myself!
Maybe it really is time to fire the barista..
Anyway, by the time I’d made it back to the screen, I had to fight to get everything back that I was trying to write (usually I just go straight in and write – no drafts for me). This approach works well when there are no interruptions, and the coffee is good.
But that wasn’t today. For a start, it’s monday. Monday is no different to any other day, apart from the fact that it is Monday, and if there are going to be interruptions, there will be more today.
And if the coffee is going to be bad, it’ll be really bad today.
Anyway, back to silhouette!
I was going to write about silhouettes, and how I like the look of them on the page.
You may have noticed that I am starting to use them a little bit more lately.
A sketch or silhouette is easier in a lot of ways on a blog like this, especially if you want to maintain privacy. I especially don’t like using photos of family for privacy reasons, and often I will avoid stock photos, simply because a lot of them don’t suit the look I’m after.
Drawings and artwork can give a retro look too if that’s what you’re after.
But of course, when it’s Monday..
And you go to write a word and can’t remember the spelling because of the emotional turmoil that bad coffee brings, it can be upsetting.
Disastrous? No, not quite.
Was sketch the word that I was looking for instead? That’s easy to spell. I don’t need caffeine for that word!
The whole affair left me feeling very sheepish, and a bit herd at the situation. Ewe would think that I would know better than to get upset over such things.
Fleece forgive me for any bad puns, but it is Monday!
I’ll be better as the week goes on of course. But then the thought of being like a sheep and going with the crowd and wishing the week away by crowing about Wednesday being hump day, or barely making it to the end of the work week and dancing around singing “Thank God it’s Friday” doesn’t appeal much.
Life’s too short to wish away.
Besides, humps are for camels, or to slow traffic down on the road!
Anyway, have a great week, and don’t forget to share something positive with someone.
Give them a hug if you’re game, or if it’s not too hard to put your communication device down for longer than five seconds..
Right now, I’m off to find a decent cup of coffee, made by a better barista than me. They must be around somewhere..
You don’t use Google for spelling? Type the word into the address line and Google will ask if you meant “…..” and voila, you have the correct spelling. 😀
Yes. I was just in a place where when I sat down to write again I was back where I started. Frustrating.
The origin of the word is fascinating, apparently named after a French finance minister during the 1700s.
