Tag You Are It At Last

HeadacheSometime ago, Teeg tagged me to answer five short questions, and then to tag five other bloggers…

I didn’t realize how long I’d left it until I checked the date on her post, and I need to apologize most heartily for my delay…

Teeg had been tagged by Dr Mani with the same questions.

At the end of this post, I will include the names of other bloggers who I have tagged in turn…

The Questions

  • How long have you been blogging?
  • What inspired you to start a blog and who are your mentors?
  • Are You trying to make money online, or just doing it for fun?
  • Tell me 3 things you LOVE about being online.
  • Tell me 3 things you STRUGGLE with in the online world.

OK, let’s get started then:

How Long Have You Been Blogging?

I’ve always been interested in writing, and years before the Internet became popular coached college students in the area of creative writing.

Although I didn’t start my first blog until about May, 2007, I published an online newsletter and news website between 1999 and 2001.

What Inspired You To Start A Blog, Who Are Your Mentors?

I first started blogging to simply promote my article directory, Freelance-Articles.com. I wrote my own articles and reviewed software there.

The honest truth is that I enjoy writing, and have an opinion on just about anything and everything, which makes it even easier…

After the 30 Day Challenge finished in August 2007, I dropped nearly everything that I had been doing online, and began concentrating on social networking and blogging.

Mentors? I don’t know, but there are a number of people who have had an effect on my writing, Teeg in particular has encouraged me greatly along the way, and I admire Darren Rowse too!.

Are You Trying To Make Money Online, Or Just Doing It For Fun?

Effective communication, social networking and writing are my passions, and so I would do what I am doing for fun anyway.

My goal at the moment is to improve my writing, and at the same time pressure myself into writing an article everyday.

In the meantime, I work offline as well, though it would be nice to be doing this full time.

Tell Me 3 Things You LOVE About Being Online.

  • Getting to interact and network with people from around the world.
  • I find the Internet very democratic, and relatively free of social (class) distinctions that can hinder relationship building offline.
  • The speed with which news spreads.

Tell Me 3 Things You STRUGGLE With In The Online World.

  • The pace of technology – there is always something new to learn!

While I love this aspect of being online, when you juggle family, offline work and social commitments, learning new skills can become a low priority at times.

  • Not being able to see peoples’ body language – it places greater importance on being very clear and open in the way I communicate so as not to offend people.

Sometimes, people can offend without realizing it, and wonder why they are not being received as well as they might be.

  • Time Zones – many of the people that I relate to are in the US, Brazil, Britain, Greece and Africa, so it can get very tiring and frustrating!

  1. Allan, T.Y. for the tag — I think! However, you forgot to mention Canada and for that I may never forgive you , but I’ll probably still play your game; it will be a good exercise for me and keep the proverbial ball rolling so to speak.
