I was at a funeral a few years ago, and the topic of faiths came up, specifically Christianity and Islam.
A lady I’ve known for a number of years said that they are basically the same, but are they? Two things that they have in common are that they both claim to be monotheistic, and they both originated in the Middle East, Christianity in the first Century, and Islam in the seventh!
They both include Jesus or Isa in Arabic, but how He features in their scriptures is different.
In Islam he is one of the greatest prophets, and is a precursor to the Prophet Muhammad, while in Christianity He is the only begotten Son of God.
The Quran says that Allah has no son (chapter 112:3. “He begets not, nor was He begotten”), while the Bible says in 1John 5:12 “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life”. So there are two contradictory statements for a start.
I am a Christian, but I’m not seeking to offend anyone.
