Back To The Future With Firefox And Google
After all the battles that Google had in forcing Microsoft to allow freedom of choice when it came to search providers, it would make sense that they would uphold the same standards, right?
According to Search Engine Land, Google is set to be the default search provider when Firefox 3 is released.
During the battle with Microsoft over Internet Explorer 7, Marissa Mayer, Vice president for Search Products at Google said:
“The market favors open choice for search, and companies should compete for users based on the quality of their search services.”
“We don’t think it’s right for Microsoft to just set the default to MSN. We believe users should choose.”
Google got what it wanted, as Internet Explorer has no default search engine.
