Kathaluwa after the Tsunami
George Karahalios has recently posted an update on the work in Sri Lanka!
George reports that Jim Luce, founder of Orphans International has come on board with the project.
George and Jim are in constant constant contact with each other, and with those on the ground in Sri Lanka as they seek to over come difficulties that appear along the way.
George has formed a group on Facebook, of which I am proud to be a member and officer, which seeks to raise money for orphans in that country.
The group has a plan to get as many people as possible to donate just $2.00 US per week to support the cause.
It’s my opinion that if we are ever to beat poverty in nations such as Sri Lanka, it has to come through citizen based programs like this one.
Governments are great at getting immediate aid on the ground, but continuing work such as this can get tied up in red tape and ideology, rather than from a motivation of caring for humanity when sponsored by governments.
While world leaders fuss about the war on terror, I believe that the best way to create peace and mutual understanding is by education.
As a father I also know that children learn better when well fed, and healthy.
Please, follow the link above to George’s blog, if you are able to help in anyway, I know George would be glad to hear from you!
Have a great week, and keep smiling!
