Follow Friday – Twitter Authors
When Allan asked if I would write his Follow Friday post today, the first list idea that came to mind was cool Australia tweeters.
I quickly discovered one problem with the idea of sharing people I follow who are from Australia: there is no easy way to sort the people you follow on Twitter by region. With all the twitter apps out there, that’s rather surprising.
So, instead, I decided to share a few of my favorite tweeting authors.
Mousewords had been mentioned before on here, she is Allan’s and my partner in Share2Grow, and a great writer, whose book, Rosewood House, will be coming out soon. I’ve read a couple of the first chapters and can tell you that it’s wonderful! I’m looking forward to reading the rest.
ClaudiaC first became a friend on Plurk (where she hides out as CHiC). She describes herself in her twitter profile as a beekeeper who writes novels, but I think she has it backwards, she’s definitely a novelist (regardless of the bees). 🙂 Her blog, On a Limb with Claudia is a neat combination of regular blog posts and book chapters and well worth a visit, she even shares chapters from her recently published book The Fey.
ElenaMichaels is not a real person. She is a character created by Kelley Armstrong, author of the Otherworld series. ElenaMichaels is actually a story that’s being told over Twitter, 140 characters at a time. By the way, if you like writing and supernatural stories in particular, Kelley Armstrong hosts a very good writers forum on her website. I’ve posted chapters there before and really like how it’s set up.
Mothman has been a friend on Twitter almost since I joined. He’s an Internet DJ, host of Mothpod, which features “bands and artists from both near and far, established and emerging, signed and unsigned;” and the author of Dark Worlds, which I’ll admit I’ve only read bits and pieces of so far, but it’s on my Amazon wishlist. 🙂
Allan mentioned that he usually adds a twitter tip at the end of his Follow Friday posts, but I can’t think of a good one right now (rain outside has numbed my brain, I think). Instead, I’ll add that if you’re an aspiring writer, twitter is a great place to get going. There are several writing groups, and every once in a while, you can follow a novel being written 140 characters at a time, either by one person or by a group (check out #htfe if you like horror stories).
