On May 15th Everybody Go Out And Buy CARROTS
The people that you can meet, and the groups that you can join on Facebook, continue to amaze me!
I found a group today called On May 15th 2008, Everybody Needs To Go Out And Panic Buy CARROTS.
The group appears to have been started early in January, 2008, and by January 24, had over 64,000 members.
Today, (Saturday February 9, 2008), the group has over 144,400 members!
Just for fun, and totally pointless, the group is testimony to the power of social networking in general, and the power of Facebook in particular!
While the group’s purpose is to have fun, the news outlets are taking it seriously, with experts discussing what effect this will have on carrot supplies around the world on May 15!
Ninemsn in Australia and Sky News In Britain both featured the story!
David Martin of the British Carrot Growers’ Association, is excited by the idea, and would like to see the group grow to a million people.
Critics say that the plan may deprive regular shoppers their carrots on May 15!
Freya Valentine, who started the group, says it’s all just a bit of fun, and that members of the group know that they’re not going to cause a massive world-wide shortage.
To join the group, simply follow the above link!
I’d love to see you there! To add me as a friend on facebook, simply click on my profile badge to the right!
