Why would a Middle Eastern family buy a Bible publisher?

For the past week, I’m writing this on August 12, 2026, there have been rumours circulating about a “Middle Eastern family buying a Bible publisher”. Social media has been rife with it, but no one has mentioned either the family, or the Bible publisher.
My own research has failed to find any proof of this happening, and unless there is evidence of the alleged sale, it probably has to be regarded as a complete hoax. At the moment it’s a matter of “someone said that someone said that they said…”. No, that doesn’t make sense, and neither does the story.
I’ve written over the past little while that Artificial Intelligence is mainly only a danger if people forget how to think for themselves. It seems that they can do that without handing that ability over to AI.
Unless one has sources, this story can only be regarded as a rumour, and whether deliberately or not, it does have the effect of spreading fear and distrust.
But what if it turns out to be true?
I don’t think that it will, but the best thing people can do in the meantime is buy a physical copy of the Bible, and read it for themselves. It’s no use just having a Bible sitting on a shelf or table at home, or listening to someone else interpret it for us on Sunday morning.
Its proper place is to be well read, with its contents written on our hearts as we honor and revere the One at the center of it. If you are rooted and grounded in the Word of God, you won’t be moved, no matter what happens.
Why would people be concerned about this? Many people possibly fear that the text of the Bible could be corrupted to match Islamic teaching. But again, if you read the Word regularly and meditate on it, you won’t be moved.
Who owns the major Bible publishers at present?
Major publishing houses that print Bibles, such as Zondervan and Thomas Nelson are subsidiaries of media conglomerates such as HarperCollins and News Corp, and there have been no acquisitions of this nature in the recent past.
Which is the largest Bible producer?
What is the largest single Bible producing facility in the world? The Nanjing Amity Printing Company is widely documented as the world’s largest single-site Bible-producing facility. The company is a joint venture between the Amity Foundation and the United Bible Societies, and to my knowledge it has not been sold.
This whole story reminds me of a rumour a few years ago that the Jesuits/Vatican had bought a major Bible publisher. If I were a gambler, I’d place money on the Middle Eastern family purchase being a rehash of the earlier rumour. Why the the Vatican would want to buy a Bible publisher is another question worth diving into, but not today.
My best advice for anyone worried about all of this? Read the Bible, love God, and love people.

The word is..wealthy muslim family buys a stake/share in the parent company that owns one of the largest bible publishers in the world. Does the name Murdoch mean anything to you? Zondervan? That’s the word on the street. NDAs were signed which is why neither side is saying anything and no presser. I found that out on FB by search. Not really that hard.

That proves only that the claim exists on Facebook and other social media.
It doesn’t establish that the event that social media describes actually occurred.
A Middle Eastern family may well have bought a stake in the company, which is their right to do.
And yes, the name Murdoch is familiar to me, he was born here in Australia.
