One of the great things about Twitter is some of the applications that help to enrich my experience there.

One thing that I make sure to do when I meet someone new on the site is to check their profile, and website.

By doing this I can learn quite a lot about them.

For instance, by going to The Goal Blog I can tell that Jill Koenig is talking from life experience as much, if not more, than any academic background when she talks about goal setting and productivity.

Checking out someone’s profile is a great way to get to know them, but you can learn even more when you use a service such as Topify.

Topify tells me that Suzie Cheel interacts in conversation, rather than broadcasting messages, and that she has been a member of Twitter since 2007.

I’ve known Suzie on facebook since 2007, but have only recently bumped into her on Twitter.

Joey Lo spends her time between Vancouver and Hong Kong.

I’ve known Joey on both Facebook and Twitter for about two years as well.

Well worth getting to know, and offers great value as a friend on both sites!

Another service that I have been playing with is Twitalyzer, a service that will give you an idea of your Twitter influence.

Installing the browser plugin will also let you see how new followers rate in different areas too.

I’ve met Penn Reyes on Plurk and Facebook as well as Twitter, and she is another one of my friends that I am only too happy to recommend to others.

Studying in Sydney, Australia away from friends and family in the Phillipines, Penn is a great lady and one of my favorites on social media.

Mr Tweet is a great application that allows users to spread the Twitter love.

By recommending others, you in turn are noticed, thus raising your own social media profile.

It ties in with the digital age version of the Golden Rule:

Tweet unto others, as you would like to be tweeted unto..
