Over 2000 arrested during crackdown

More than 2000 people were arrested in Burma’s crackdown on anti-government protests over the last week, state television said.

A total of 2093 people were arrested from September 25 through to yesterday, but 692 had already been released. More from News.com.au

Nations such as China and Russia have taken the stance that this is an internal matter, and appear to be ready to use their UN veto to stop any but the lamest protest being made in that assembly.
