Why Should I Include Images With My Blog Posts?
There are a couple of good reasons why you should include images when blogging.
The first and most important would be to help hold your readers’ interest, especially if you are writing a long post.
Images help to break up the text at strategic points in your post, and add relevance.
They also help your readers to “see” what you are talking about as well.
Images are also an asset when sharing posts on social media!
The image to the left for instance would show up on Facebook if I share it. It shows my face, and is combined with a mock up that I created.
It makes it easier for people to identify me with the site as well.
And it is probably useless to anyone who wished to use it themselves.
Which brings me to another issue – always make sure that you have permission to use images that you wish to post.
There are plenty of sites available to access royalty free images, and it pays to follow the rules.
You wouldn’t want to have people swipe your written content and claim it as theirs would you?
That’s something that has always gotten under my skin – especially when people use article spinners.
With such easy access to the internet with mobile devices these days, it’s also an easy task to shoot your own photos.
One of my favorite sites is UnSplash.com Subscribe and receive 10 new photos every 10 days, FREE!
Anyway, here it is in a nutshell: images help add relevance to your post, as well as helping to hold the readers’ interest, and break up long blocks of text.
Here are three images, and their sources, for you to check out!
I created the image below by combining two that I had created previously, and then inserting them into a MacBook (shudder) mock up.
The end result is quite good, and obviously, not one that anyone else would have much use for! Source: Magic Mockups
Dr Who Enjoys Coffee With Allan?
Maybe, or maybe not, but this image comes royalty free from Pixel Squid.
Almost everyone these days knows about Dr Who, he’s been around on television for almost as long as I have.
Anyway, there’s quite a large range of images on Pixel Squid
The image of the truck below comes from Unsplash.com!
As I mentioned earlier, the site allows you to download 10 images every ten days after subscribing, and you can use them how you like.
I have to thank Kurt Melvin for the links to Magic Mockups and Pixel Squid.
His site has an exhaustive list of image and video resources.
It would take me a month of Sundays to get through and list them all here, but you can check them all out here on Kurt’s site!
