Add A Stumbleupon Button To Your Blog
Using Stumbleupon traffic is an easy way to create a buzz and get your blog noticed!
On a forum recently, someone asked whether it was necessary to add a Stumbleupon button to the blog itself!
Spending time stumbling different sites, ! found some with a button installed. Clicking the button took me straight to the review page!
Having answered questions on forums about how to stumble and review, I reasoned that this could be a simple solution for new stumblers, and may also increase the chances of them stumbling a blog.
There are times when I play around with different browsers, some without a toolbar, so this option is handy for times like that too!
Buttons and code are available for WordPress, Blogger, Typepad, Movable Type, and FeedBurner’s FeedFlare.
Buttons are also available to suit html pages and some other blog platforms.
The button was easy to install on WordPress, which is something for me!
While we’re on the subject of Stumbleupon, have you ever wondered why some stumbles count for more?
Have a great week!
I placed the button in my blog but the only thing is I had to modify it when placing it on “Blogger” because the icon picture didn’t come out right at first but I took the pic and copy and paste from the ” My stumble” buttons.. the other thing I am a little annoyed that I had to place it manually in each post.. cant it be done automatically on its own with each post.. I dont know how to do that.. but thanks for this post.. its still helpful..

That’s funny, I have pasted the info for adding it to Blogger below. I must admit that I haven’t used it with Blooger, but will try it out over the next day or so! Thanks for visiting!

* Download the StumbleUpon icon and upload it to your blogger account.
* Login in to blogger.com and click on the template tab (to modify template)
* Find the <$BlogItemBody$> tag then cut and paste the code below. Remember to replace **LINK TO stumbleit.gif** with the image your uploaded.
(&title=<$BlogItemTitle$>“> Stumble It!)
That code didn’t turn out right – you can find it at Stumbleupon.
Hi all,
Hi Alan,
Sorry can’t help you with the button think, I use wordpress and that has it’s own problems. The only way I can show ads in my posts is to insert them inividually in every single post, which sounds like the problem your having with the button lilliy.
There are widgets to use on wordpress which allows coding to be inserted once and then shows up in every post, but again I don’t know about blogger.
Back to the original topic I think so far SU is great for traffic but that’s it, only numbers showing up on my google analytics, it’s a lot from time to time but none of those visitors are actually doing anything, at least up until now.
That’s a little disheartening when you see 300 extra visits one day but no comments, you wonder how so many can really be seeing your site, which leads to me doubting the analytics software.
As said before i’ll stay with it for a couple of months to really say for sure if it does anymore than increase ‘page visits’.
If nothing else I have made some new friends at SU, none of which actually found at SU but it’s another handy place to have all your friends in one place.
And what’s the idea that you can’t have more than 200 friends? Now we have to be picky about who our friends are so we don’t get too many, oh well, 200 will be a start, lol.

StumbleUpon is best to get free traffic, I stumble my freshly posted content and within one hour I get decent traffic from SU.
Yes, Stumbleupon is a great traffic source, but I find that it is a more of a social networking site than just a traffic generating tool.
Getting to know people there and interacting with them brings more rewards in the long run.
Thanks for the comment – looking forward to hearing from you again.
Cheers
Great information! Thanks for writing this. It is an honor to participate in the discussion.
Thank you. Am looking forward to your participation!
Allan
I would like to put the (Bookmark and Share) – button that you have here on your site that gives you a choice between many sites. Could you let me know how to put that on my blog?
G’day John,
The share button is a plug in from Social List. This one is for Worpress.
This is the developers’ page, where you can explore and download plugins for other platforms.
Cheers,
Allan
I’d like to put a stumbleupon button in all the posts of my blog much like how it’s described here. However, in my wordpress blog, I cannot find the single.php file to add the SU button code in. I only have CSS access to my theme stylesheet…does anybody know where to find this file?

I haven’t had any experience with putting Stumbleupon buttons on WordPress.com sites, but I have done a quick search of the WP forums and come up with this!
By the way, I checked your blog out and enjoyed the read.
Why not consider putting it on a wordpress.org site? Of course you need a domain name and hosting, but it’s not that hard – if I can do it, you surely can too! 😉
If you need help, please let me know!
Thanks a lot for your response Allan – it was very helpful, although with WordPress things seem to be the long way around!
I must admit, I am quite new to the blogging arena and don’t really have the time to play around with new and exciting gadgets etc. I have no idea what the benefits are of wordpress.org as opposed to what I’m using other than the obvious domain name. What would you recommend for hosting?
I use a couple of hosts, one of which is Hostgator, and in four years with them I’ve never had any problems! You can host with them from about 4.95US from memory.
Not sure if you’d want a .co.uk domain or just a .com
I use Godaddy for .com, while PlanetDomain.com is great for other extensions as well.
If you want to go down that path give me a yell – only to happy to help!
