How To Promote On Twitter Facebook Or Any Other Social Network
Can I promote on Twitter or Facebook without ever being labeled as a spammer?
It goes without saying that a lot of people are clueless when it comes to Twitter and Facebook!
The same could be said for any other social media site too of course, but these are the two that everyone seems to be talking about at present!
There is a lot of misinformation out there, especially in marketing circles, on what these sites can, and can’t be used for.
In my opinion, spending all your time on a social networking marketing a product, or even a political opinion, is a waste of time.
What Is The Best Product To Promote On Twitter?
The short simple answer to this question is You!
That’s right, you are the key to your company, or your product’s success when it comes to networking sites.
If you stop and look at some of the most popular figures on these sites, you will see that they are not popular because of what they sell, but who they are.
Think of people like Barak Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Demi Moore.
The multitudes who follow these folks do so because of who they are, their public profiles, and the fact that they feel as though they know them.
The average person will never get a following quite the size of these celebrities, but they can still have a good measure of success.
While it may seem like a great idea to go and build a great list of followers on these sites, it can be counter productive, simply because they are there for the same thing!
That’s right! They are there to network right back at you!
So what is the average person to do? That’s easy!
The right attitude! Yes, put yourself out there!
But be a member of the community that you join. Interact, get to know people, and let them get to know you as well!
Someone came up with figures the other day that suggest that the average member of Twitter only has a handful of followers on the site.
I’d go further and suggest that many of those with thousands of followers only have a percentage that actually listen to what they are saying on a regular basis.
Using Real Network Techniques
In the above image, as I have shared before, no one individual is connected with every other individual.
But they are all connected indirectly. This means that by sharing with key members of a network, you can reach into their friend networks as well.
This is a principle that has been recognized, and used by network marketers for years!
On social sites, the principle is the same. Get to know key people, and let them get to know you.
As they learn to trust you, they will in turn tell their friends about you, and it will grow from there.
In the present rush for followers, everyone is focused on that first line.
People with common sense will see two things!
1/ That reaching into that network of friends is going to bring more success than trying to befriend everyone.
2/ People are not likely to introduce them to their friends if all they do is send them sales messages.
Who do I choose to follow? People that I can learn off, who can challenge me, and point me to interesting content. If they are involved in the same industry as well, that can help, but it is not necessary.
This one for example! Ric Raftis is a social networker, webmaster, marketer and all round good guy.
How do I know? Since I met him on a site a few years back, we have become friends, and learned about each other. That’s why I can recommend him.
And that my friends, is what networking is about!
