Adding and Losing Friends On Facebook

I’ve been asked four questions about friends on Facebook today.

I thought that I would list them here with the answers for all to see.

The first person asked how do I get someone kicked off? They were a little unclear as to why they’d want to do that.

Because what goes around comes around, unless it was for something really serious, I simply wouldn’t bother.

It is possible to remove someone by going to your friends list, and simply clicking ‘remove friend’ at the bottom of the page.

If the person has been harassing you or making a nuisance of themselves, and still continues to do so, then report it to the site admin, and include whatever evidence that you have.

The next question was how do I find friends without their email address?

It’s possible to find them by doing a search for them by name. If that doesn’t work, then they’re possibly not on Facebook.

If they are indeed your friend, contact them some other way, get them to join and add you as their friend.

Someone else on wanted help adding friends.

Apparently they had added a couple of people but had no reply.

The first answer would have to be that they weren’t interested, and declined.

The next could be that life happens, and they just haven’t logged on for a while.

The last question, is there a limit to the number of friends you can have?

Well, Robert Scoble has run into a ceiling of 5,000 friends. I know of others on Facebook who’s friends number in the thousands.

The speed that you add friends, and excessive posting on their walls can also get you into trouble. Excessive Evangelism?

  1. I got ban when my friend did an account for me because we add everyone the same night and we hit the maximum friends for today. I think they filter everyone that hit this maximum. Thanks for answering the five questions!

  2. Ouch! That’s painful! I’ve encountered others who have had that happen as well. Have you contacted Facebook to try and get your account reinstated?
