Does Freedom Of Speech Equate With Watching Child Pornography
Senator Stephen Conroy seems to think that anyone who disagrees with him thinks it does.
The fact is that ISP filters similar to the British system that Mr Conroy thinks so highly of slows performance by up to 78%!
Add to this the cost of implementing the system, and you have a stuff up of gargantuan proportions! News.com.au report here!
Part of Conroy’s argument for the system is that the previous government’s Net Alert was easily bypassed, but the above report from News Ltd shows that this is the case with the proposed system as well!
Why install a system that that can be so easily bypassed?
Why the need to label people who do not agree with the proposal as pornographers?
Why the need to take over yet another part of parental responsibility?
Why can’t we have an eduction program, and an improvement on the previous government’s Net Alert system?
Even Telstra has joined the ISPs in standing against this system.
When will the government learn that its role isn’t to run the family?
