Adding Friends And Extending Your Network On Facebook

Facebook LogoFacebook continues to grow, with more people joining all the time.

Some join with the intention of linking up with old school or college friends, others see it as a dating service, and some join simply because everyone else does.

Many business people join Facebook as a means of extending their business network, while artists and musicians, not to mention politicians, are there as well.

Adding friends is simple, though many will tell you not to go too hard in a short period of time, as this isn’t looked on too favorably.

Nor is having too many friend requests pending.

There are a number of applications that provide a handy means of extending your network.

One of the easiest ways to meet people anywhere, is to have someone introduce you to them.

There are a number of applications that fill this role on Facebook.

These are Introduce Me, Intros and Introductions!

Of the three, I find that Introduce Me suits me best, as more people seem to use it than the others.

The value of all three applications is that they help you get to know your friends’ friends, which means that these people are more likely to share interests with you.

When I am introduced to someone, I make a point of sending a message to each one, and include the name of the person who is introducing us, as well as groups etc. that we may have in common.

Allan Cockerill's Facebook profileAnother way of extending your network is to use your Profile Badge!

I have written about this a couple of times, and am mentioning it here simply because it is so simple, and easy to use!

You will find a link at the bottom of your Facebook profile page entitled, what else, Profile badge.

Click the link and follow the directions, and in minutes you will have a badge like mine to place on your blog or website.

Your visitors can then click on it, and be taken directly to your public profile.

I use it so that my blog visitors can find me on the site.

Extending my network also means being active on sites such as Digg, Stumbleupon and BlogCatalog.

I’m known as Ozegold on all of these, so feel free to look me up!
