The Spam Free Way To Market And Promote On Facebook

Facebook IconTo the person who asked if having people accept his ‘Friend Invitation’ gave him the right to send emails promoting his products to them, the answer is

No, Definitely Not!

Doing that can get you booted off the site faster than you can say “Hormel Foods Corporation”.

My main activity on Facebook for the past six to eight months has been to watch, learn, and enjoy making friends.

During that time I have seen a lot of people who thought that networking equals advertising lose their Facebook account and disappear without a trace.

I never promote products on Facebook.

The fact is that it is a social networking site, and as such is designed to facilitate meeting people and making friends.

By taking this line, I’ve learned that the best, and safest, thing that I can promote is myself.

In a nutshell, I do this by being a good cyber citizen, taking part in group discussions, getting involved in causes, and by including good content on my blog, which I have linked to Blog Friends, I find that I am attracting friends, and subscribers, all the time.

In fact today I sent my first ‘Friend Invitation’ in over a month, and yet my friends list is growing day by day.

Of course, there is much more to it, but time and space prevent me from going too far into it at present.

The old adage of to make a friend, you have to be a friend applies here.

There are many applications on Facebook that let you list what you do and promote your products.

The best place to start is to edit your profile page, and the ‘About Me’ section.

Allan Cockerill's Facebook profileThe key is to stand out from the crowd.

You can start by being the sort of friend that people like to have around.

I do that by endeavoring to have positive input into groups, helping people where I can, and by not sending stuff to their wall every five minutes, no matter how good I may think it is.

It’s a part of Attraction Marketing.

Attraction Marketing is a term that I picked up from Andrew Bourland, who in turn adapted Dan Kennedy’s ‘Magnetic Marketing’ concept.

Andrew posted a video in the Internet Marketing Warriors’ Forum group on Facebook.

I love meeting people on Facebook, and making friends there.

In fact, I’d really like to meet you there too!
